About Varda Bridge

Varda Bridge, also known as 'Koca Köprü' (meaning Big Bridge) among the locals, is a historical bridge located approximately one kilometer southwest of Hacıkırı Village in Karaisalı District, on the Adana-Ankara route. The bridge was built between 1907 and 1912 to complete the Istanbul-Baghdad-Hijaz railway line, as agreed upon by the Ottoman Ruler 2nd Abdülhamit and the German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm. The bridge is 99 meters high and 172 meters long, connecting two sides of a deep valley. Additionally, Varda Bridge is not a straight bridge, but rather designed with curves.

How to Get There?

Varda Bridge is located on the Adana-Ankara route. If you plan to come from Adana, you should exit Adana and proceed in the direction of Ankara. After reaching Karaisalı district, you should follow Hacıkırı Village to reach the bridge. Don't forget that it is situated approximately one kilometer southwest of the bridge. If you don't want to drive your own vehicle, you can choose bus services to reach Karaisalı from Adana. From Karaisalı, you can then use taxi or car rental services to reach the bridge.
