Where is Ishak Pasha Palace Located?

Ishak Pasha Palace is located 7 kilometers southeast of Doğubayazıt, on top of a high hill overlooking Eski Beyazit and the plain. Bayezid Sanjagah was also ruled from this palace.

When was Ishak Pasha Palace Built?

The construction of the palace was started in 1685 by Çolak Abdi Pasha from Çıldır Atabeks, and it was completed in 1784 during the time of Küçük Ishak Pasha from the same lineage. The architects were skilled craftsmen from Ahıska.

Monumental Gate and Mosque

The entrance of the palace, located on the eastern side, was the most challenging part to defend. The monumental gate carries the characteristics of Seljuk art with its reliefs and decorations, similar to other doors. The palace's mosque, on the other hand, attracts attention with its single dome and minarets adorned with two different colored stones.

Ishak Pasha Palace is a complex palace with many sections. It includes the harem, guesthouse, bathhouse, meeting halls, court hall, mosque, various service rooms, living rooms, storage rooms, and a prison. The voids inside the palace indicate that it was heated with a central heating system.
