What is Antalya Museum?

Antalya Museum was established in 1922 by Süleyman Fikri Erten to protect the artifacts rescued from the looting of the occupying forces after World War I. Initially located in the Alaaddin Mosque in Kaleiçi, it was later moved to the current building in 1972, which is located in the Yivli Mosque. Antalya Museum consists of 14 exhibition halls, outdoor galleries, and a garden where sculptures and various artifacts are displayed, covering an area of 30,000 square meters.

Antalya Museum is responsible for a significant part of the three ancient cultural regions within the boundaries of the Antalya region, namely Lycia, Pamphylia, and Pisidia. Therefore, the collection reflects an important heritage of regional history and culture. Antalya Museum can be characterized as an archaeology and history museum and also functions as a regional museum. A large portion of the exhibited artifacts has been obtained as a result of excavations in the region.
